Through my good friend Brian Knep I got the pleasure of giving a talk to the Systems Biology Group at the Harvard Medical school. It was a great opportunity to talk to the people there about collaborations and how they see the current academic system. They see it as mostly good but the current tenure and journal culture is not always conducive to open collaborations. This was also my first experiment in not using presentation software. Instead I just opened some images and movies one by one. I talked about them as I would to a group of friends. I’d like to continue this trend for all of my small group talks in the future.
